Both bourses witness rise in price indices

          Price indices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose Sunday although the gaining issues outnumbered the losing ones. The trade turnover, in terms of volume, increased but in terms of value, it fell on the day.
The DSE All Share Price Index closed at 1265.48 points, posting 2.997 points or 0.24 per cent rise from 1262.48 points of Thursday, the previous trading day.
The DSE General Index gained by 4.96 points or 0.30 per cent to close at 1653.91 points from 1648.95 points of the previous day.
The DSE-20 Index went up by 7.99 points or 0.47 per cent to end at 1716.65 points from 1708.66 points.
About 5.29 million shares and debentures worth Tk 272.86 mil-lion changed hands on the day against 5.00 million shares and deben-tures valued at Tk 277.55 million of the previous trading day.
A total of 153 issues were traded on the day including 60 gainers, 70 losers and 23 remain-ing un-changed on the day, as estimated on the basis of closing prices.
The total market capitalisation stood at Tk 221.23 billion from Tk 219.67 billion.
Grameen-1 was the top trade turn-over leader, in terms of value, on the day. Its 1.04 million shares valued at Tk 24.02 million changed hands. The price of the issue decreased by 0.43 per cent to close at Tk 23.00. Its price varied between Tk 23.50 and Tk 22.70 on the day.
The price indices on the Chit-tagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also gained on the day, as the gainers outplayed the losers.
The trade turnover, in terms of volume, dropped but in terms of value, it went up on the day.
The CSE All Share Price Index moved up by 0.73 per cent to finish at 3331.21 points from 3307.10 points of Thursday, the previous trading day.
The CSE-30 Index gained by 0.66 per cent to close at 3163.17 points from 3142.28 points.
A total of 2.14 million shares and debentures worth Tk 70.47 million changed hands on the day against the previous day's 2.22 million shares and debentures valued at Tk 65.59 million of the previous day.
