Music album sales soar in UK despite Internet piracy threat

LONDON, Nov 27 (AFP): Defying gloomy predictions that Internet piracy would cripple record companies, Britain's music industry announced Friday a best-ever 12-month period for album sales in the country. For a year which ended in September, 237 million albums were bought, according to the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), the trade association which represents the nation's record companies.
