BSCIC's autumn fair in city FE Report 10/24/2005
Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) organised five-day autumn fair is running at BSCIC Bhaban in the city from Sunday with a view to showcase its trainees' produced goods. BSCIC chairman ABM Kamrul Islam inaugurated the fair, while chief designer Kamal Uddin Ahmed and technology director Krishna Gopal Roy were also present at the ceremony. Some 90 stalls, containing various items like wood and bamboo artifacts, nakshi kathan, dolls, embroidered cloths, sarees, honey, pickles, etc., are being exhibited in the fair. Speaking at the ceremony BSCIC chairman said the organisation has so far provided training to some 23,000 people. Besides, some 27,000 designs have also been innovated and 50,000 creative designs and samples supplied. Some 138 trainees have received testimonial in 11 trades at the ceremony and around 128 trainees joined a three-month training course. The fair is also displaying a range of colorful products, concentrating exclusively on Eid-ul-Fitr. It will remain open till October 27 from 10am to 5pm.
