FBCCI for issuing certificates against Indian medicine exporters

Country's apex trade-body FBCCI Tuesday urged the government to take counter-action making it mandatory for Indian businessmen to collect certificates from Bangladeshi laboratories for their medicine exports, reports UNB.
FBCCI president Mir Nasir Hossain made the proposal to Commerce Minister Altaf Hossain Chowdhury as he led a delegation of the newly elected members of the chamber's Board of Directors to meet the minister at the Commerce Ministry. This is their maiden call on the minister after assuming office on September 6.
They expressed concern over the Indian measure for mandatory certification of products for exporting to India, which is hindering Bangladesh's export to the neighbouring country.
The Commerce Minister, however, apprised the meeting of a bilateral move for mutual recognition of certification through which one country would accept certification by the laboratories of another country.
An Indian team would soon visit Bangladesh to examine the facilities of Bangladeshi laboratories as part of the process of mutual recognition arrangement, an official told the meeting.
At the meeting the commerce ministry high-ups and the business leaders exchanged views on overall economic and trade related-issues, ranging from price situation to preparation for the upcoming WTO ministerial meeting. Commerce adviser Barkat Ullah Bulu and senior officials were present at the meeting.
