Rakib finishes 22nd in Asian chess

IM Abdullah Al Rakib became 22nd in the Fifth Asian Individual Chess Championship at the Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, India Saturday, reports BDNEWS. He earned 5.5 points at the end of the ninth round and increased to rating points 10. IM Enamul Hossain Razib became 34th, GM Ziaur Rahman became 42nd and IM Reefat Bin Sattar became 50th. Razib earned 5 points, Zia earned 4.5 points and Reefat earned 4 points. In the ninth round, Rakib drew with Yu Shaotung of China, Razib beat IM Lanka Ravi of India, Zia lost against IM Meilis Annaberdiev of Turkmenistan and Reefat lost against GM R B Ramesh of India. GM Zhang Zhong of China became champion with 7.5 points. GM Li Shilong of China became runner-up with 7 points. Top 10 players, six of China, three of Kazakhstan and one of Vietnam, qualified in the next world chess championship.
