21 die as minibus falls into river in Bogra

BOGRA, Oct 15 (BDNEWS) : Divers and fire fighters recovered 21 bodies, including women, after a minibus fell into a river in Shibganj Upazila of the district Saturday afternoon, the police and hospital sources said. Among the dead, seven were from a single family of village Bolai of Shibganj Upazila. It is feared that most of the passengers died in the accident. Witnesses said that the accident occurred when the driver of the bus from Bogra heading towards Joypurhat lost control over the wheel and the bus fell into the river Gangon from the road, which was submerged by floodwaters. On information, fire fighters and divers from Bogra and Rajshahi rushed to the spot and recovered 21 bodies. The seven members of a family who met the tragic end of their lives were identified as Amal (42), Nirmal (32), their wives, Amal's sons Alok (12) and Pulok (8) and Nirmal's one-and-half-year old son, Neerob.
