AKTEL launches its Dhaka-Sylhet transmission network

AKTEL, one of the leading GSM cellular service providers in the country, launched a fully independent Dhaka-Sylhet microwave backbone Wednesday.
AKTEL Managing Director Ahmad Bin Ismail inaugurated the transmission network at AKTEL's Ghorashal Transmission Centre.
Through the ultra-modern transmission network, AKTEL subscribers of Sylhet region will get its improved service and a reliable network facility.
It will also ensure continuous coverage along the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway. The backbone has the capacity to function with its own energy source for five days in the case of any emergency.
AKTEL launched the microwave backbone as an ongoing process of raising the network capacity to support three million customers by the end of 2005.
The cellular phone service provider aims to meet the long-felt needs of Bangladeshi subscribers by offering innumerable innovative products and value for money services in near future.
AKTEL Chief Operating Officer Vijay Watson, Director (Co-ordination) Fazlur Rahman, General Manager (Technical) Omar Bin Sahid, and Head of Corporate Affairs Javed Tariq were also present on the occasion along with other senior officials.
