WB lends Vietnam $50m to improve education

HANOI, Oct 12 (AFP): The World Bank granted Vietnam Wednesday a credit of 50 million dollars for a programme aimed at promoting education for disadvantaged people. "The main beneficiary groups include poor children, ethnic minorities, girls and children with disabilities," central bank governor Le Duc Thuy said at a signing ceremony in Hanoi. The programme will cost a total of 128 million dollars, with the help of other donors such as Belgium, Canada, the European Commission, New Zealand and Britain.
