Lack of int'l aid obstructs reforms: Palestinian PM

4/7/2005

RAMALLAH, Apr 6 (Xinhua): Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei said Tuesday that the lack of international aid would obstruct the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) in conducting reforms.
Qurei made the remarks after talks with visiting Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja.
"The Palestinian National Authority suffers from a severe financial crisis and an international pledge to aid us is still lip service, which will disable us to make achievements in reforms," said Qurei.
He also reiterated commitment to carrying out reforms and implementing the roadmap peace plan. During his visit, the Finnish minister signed an agreement with the PNA to offer US$2.1 million to upgrade a land registration system.
