SATKHIRA, Feb 25: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members arrested two smugglers along with a border pillar built during British regime and statue of 'Shiba' from Kalaroa Bazar here Friday. The arrested were identified as Sirajul Islam, son of Abdul Gaffar of Muralikati village in Kalaroa Upazila and an aluminium trader of the Bazar Ujjal Sarkar--UNB
BDR seize contrabands worth Tk 315.2m
CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Feb 25: The Bangladesh Riffles seized contrabands worth over Tk 315.2 million from different border areas of the district in the last 14 months till February 20. During the period, some 2,508 cases were also filed. The seized contrabands include Indian sarees, cosmetics, sugar, salt, bicycles, spare parts, electric goods, milk powder, fruits, medicines, pesticides, fertilisers an diesel--UNB.
Eye camp concludes
RANGAMATI, Feb 25: A four-day eye camp concluded here at Zila Sports Association premises Thursday. Zila Parishad and district administration jointly organised the camp with the assistance of the Bangladesh National Blind Welfare Association, Chittagong. Over 800 patients were given treatment during the eye camp--UNB.
Low prices frustrate vegetable cultivators
NETRAKONA, Feb 25: Despite bumper production, vegetable cultivators of the district are being frustrated as they are not getting fair prices from their produce this season. Farmers achieved bumper production of winter vegetables due to favourable weather this season but prices of vegetable are very low at the local markets--UNB.
