Fisheries sector earns Tk 25.72b in 2004-05 fiscal

Fisheries and Livestock Minister Abdullah Al Noman Wednesday informed the Jatiya Sangsad that the country had earned about Tk 25.72 billion in the 2004-05 fiscal by exporting fish and fish products, reports BSS.
Replying to a question he said the country has been exporting fish and fish products to Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, China, India, the USA, the Middle East and the EU countries.
Of the countries, he said Bangladesh is exporting frozen fish and frozen shrimps to the USA, the EU countries, Japan, Thailand and China while Malaysia, India, Singapore and the Middle Eastern countries are importing frozen fish.
