Bangladeshi businesses asked to partake in Liberia re-building

BUCHANAN, Feb 15 (BSS): With peace established, the war-torn West-African country of Liberia has invited the Bangladeshi business community to take part in rebuilding its devastated economy.
''Liberia is now ready to welcome investors and businessmen from abroad, especially from Bangladesh, to help rebuild its economy''.
The newly elected Liberian Senator, Gbehezohngar Mlton Findley, said this while talking to the news agency about the post-war reconstruction of the country.
The post-war Liberia is a potential venue for investment and firstly we would like to invite the Bangladeshi business community to visit Liberia and choose their feasible business sectors, he said.
Indian, Chinese and Lebanese investors and traders have already started their businesses in various sectors creating hopes of economic rehabilitation of the country and prospects of job among the unemployed inhabitants.
Expressing his gratitude for active participation of the Bangladesh contingent in the UN peacekeeping mission in his country, the Senator said Bangladesh is a tested friend of Liberia and the Liberian people expect Bangladesh would now take part in the huge economic reconstruction process.
Member of Liberian House of Representative Gabriel Smith and Senior Social Leader Ebakanga were present during the interview.
Senator Findley said Liberian Chamber of Commerce of Industries representatives would also reciprocate the visits of the Bangladeshi businessmen.
Referring to the investment potential in Liberia, Senator Findley said the Bangladeshi businessmen may have market here for their garments, pharmaceuticals, leather, ceramics, handicrafts and other essential commodities. Besides, construction companies, engineering, mechanical and electrical firms would also find their place in the post-war reconstruction process of Liberia, he added.
