UNDP board elects Dhaka as member

NEW YORK, Mar 3: Bangladesh was endorsed as member of the UNDP Executive Board by the Asian Group at the UN Headquarters here last week following an intense campaign. The term of office will be for three years starting from 2006 to 2008. The only other time that Bangladesh was a member of the board was from 1994 to 1996. Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, ambassador and permanent representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations, speaking to the media said Thursday: The formal election will take place at the ECOSOC organisational session in April this year. — BSS
