Display of ID cards must for taxicab drivers

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) asked all taxicab owners and drivers to display identity cards of respective drivers on a visible place on the vehicle by March 10 to check crimes. An announcement of the authority said Thursday the measure was meant for curbing growing crimes being committed by using taxicabs and also for preventing criminal attacks on hired cabs. The identity cards would have to be placed on the left side of dashboard so that it is easily visible to all. "Legal actions will be taken against the transgressors if the identity card is not put in place by the March 10 deadline," said the DMP. — UNB
