Barind power distribution project progressing fast

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Feb 18: The implementation of the Tk 3.22 billion power distribution project in Chapainawabganj, Rajshahi, Naogaon and Natore districts, especially in the Barind area, is progressing fast. Execution of work worth Taka 1.17 billion of the project was completed in December last year, and it is expected to be finished by the middle of next year, an official handout said. State Minister for Power Iqbal Hasan Mahmud said this yesterday while visiting the project area here, an official handout said today. He also inaugurated the newly constructed 33/11 KV Battala Hat sub-station under the power distribution project, the Tikarampur village electrification project and the Mohammad Khan irrigation project. Most of the work of the project, which is funded by India, Kuwait and the OPEC, was implemented during last three years of the present government, the state minister was informed. —BSS
