The crucial battle between Brothers Union and Mohammedan Sporting Club in the super-league of the Nitol-Tata Fifth National Football League ended in a goalless draw at Bangabandhu National Stadium Monday, reports BDNEWS. With sharing points, defending champions raised their points tally to five, including four bonus points, while the match-favourite Mohammedans' collection was two including one bonus point that carried from the second round matches. It was the Mohammedans, who enjoyed the superior ball procession in the match and created few real scoring chances, but their shaky forwards squandered the sitters. Besides, the luck was not with the popular Black and White outfits as they were deprived of a certain goal when a header of Peter Odaf returned to play kissing the Brothers' cross-bar. The Mohammedans took the midfield in control from the very beginning and launched one after another attack, but their foreign recruit forwards squandered the opportunities or Brothers Union custodian Mohammad Ali foiled the attempts. Mohammad Ali saved his Gopibagh outfit in the 13th minute as the tiny custodian punched an angular shot from Francis for a corner when the scorching shot from the outside of the box was seeking the home. It's again Francis, who could have given the Mohammedans a 23rd minute lead, but the striker after being set up by defender Peter Odaf sent the ball wide off from almost handshaking distance. Brothers Union custodian Mohammad Ali was tested through a long-range shot by Mohammedan defender Hasan in 41st minute, but Ali again foiled the Hasan attempt at the cost of corner to save his side.
