FD team arrests 12 fishermen for netting in Bay illegally

BAGERHAT, Dec 26 (UNB): A team from the Forest Department (FD) Friday arrested 12 fishermen from the Bay of Bengal near Dublar Char area for fishing in Bay illegally.
The arrested were identified as Hanif, Selim, Mostafa, Bellal, Faruq, Bashar, Mamun, Waliur, Zamal, Ilias, Hakim and Noor Miah.
FD sources said the arrested fishermen injured three forest guards and snatched their rifles when the guards chased them for fishing in the Bay illegally.
The injured were identified as Mostafa, Mujibor and Emdadul. Of them, Mostafa was admitted to a local clinic.
Later, another team of Forest Department conducted another drive in the Bay and seized three trawlers along with 12 fishermen. They also recovered the snatched rifle from them during the drive.
