BIMDT's 5th convocation held FE Report 12/27/2005
The Fifth Convocation of Bangladesh Institute of Medical and Technology (BIMDT) was held at the BIAM auditorium in the city Monday, said a press release. State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mizanur Rahman Sinha, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his speech, the minister said that under the present socio-economic condition, the importance of the technical educational institutes is crucial for a country like Bangladesh, which is lagging behind other countries in terms of technology adoption and use. He also pointed out that in an ideal situation the proper ratio of doctor and technician is 1:1, whereas in Bangladesh the situation was still far from being ideal. "By increasing the number of competent technicians, we could solve the unemployment problem as well as earn foreign currencies by exporting these skilled human resources," he added. He assured that the government and its concerned ministry will support and co-operate the students of BIMDT to achieve the target. Among others, State University of Bangladesh (SUB) Vice Chancellor MS Ilyas Dhami, SUB's School of Health Science Adviser M Shahjahan and BIMDT council Vice President Md Mahbubur Rahman spoke on the occasion. BIMDT Adviser Moshiur Rahman made the welcome speech, while SUB Vice Chancellor Dhami urged the students to maintain quality education in order to develop the present healthy care services of the country. Shahjahan assured that the products of BIMDT will definitely serve the nation well. Mahbubur Rahman said that the recent trend of medical care courses has already become very popular among common people. BIMDT is the first private medical care institute to serve such purpose.
