Bangla Bhai's close associate Lutfar Rahman held

RAJSHAHI, Dec 26 (BDNEWS): The police arrested Prof Lutfar Rahman, a close associate of Bangla Bhai and also an activist of Jamaat-e-Islami, from Bagmara thana area Monday. Police sources said that they arrested Prof Lutfar Rahman, a teacher of the Atrai Mollah Azad Memorial Degree College, when he came to Sikdari Bazar area Monday afternoon. Later they took him to the thana. But no case was filed in this regard till filing of the report. Local sources said Lutfar Rahman, who hails from Majhgram of Bagmara, was involved with the Jatiya Party till 90s. Later he became involved with the Jamaat-e-Islami. Though he did not hold any post in the Jamaat committee, at the local level he was involved with the activities of Jamaat. He became a round-the-clock companion of Bangla Bhai after the militant kingpin began his activities on April 1 in 2004. Lutfar also became one of the main arbitrators in the mediation conducted by JMB, a banned militant outfit. He carried out the activities of JMB publicly after Bangla Bhai left Bagmara. It was alleged that the police did not arrest him as he had good relations with the four-party coalition leaders. He also accompanied Shaekh Abdur Rahman when he came to Bagmara.
